REEDLEY – Anyone looking for a side of fun with their meal can head over to Smack ‘N’ Smash, Reedley’s newest spot for smashburgers and arcade games.
Locally owned by Goldie Bedi and Patty Bedi, Smack ‘N’ Smash officially celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater Reedley Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 25. The restaurant is a rebranding of the location that held the Bedi’s other enterprise, Twisted Indian Street Food, at the Reedley Shopping Center off Manning Avenue.
“We are very excited to bring something different to Reedley,” Goldie Bedi said. “We have an arcade and then we have smashburgers made with fresh ingredients. We just want to have a family come over and have a good time.”
Alongside Pac-Man, Marvel and racing games, patrons can try to snag stuffed animals and large rubber ducks from a claw machine while waiting for their single, double or triple smashburger. The menu doesn’t stop at plain smashburgers either, however, as the restaurant offers a mac and cheese smash, avocado smash and birria smash.
Reedley Mayor Matthew Tuttle presented the Bedi family with an official certificate of recognition from the city of Reedley at the ribbon cutting ceremony and commended the business owners for adapting to the market.
“Having to rebrand or find where the service is, it’s almost a yearly thing, always adjusting here and there, and so for that, I recognize the challenges of such,” Tuttle said. “I applaud you as well for something like this; there’s nothing like this in Reedley.”
With arcade games tucked away in a hallway but monitored by video camera feeds that are visible to those in the restaurant’s dining room, Tuttle noted that the restaurant is the perfect place for parents to have a moment to themselves while still keeping an eye on their kids.
Smack ‘N’ Smash is located at 1514 E. Manning Ave. in Reedley and is open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.
