REEDLEY – Kings County Unified School District (KCUSD) proudly announced that Silas Bartsch School and Navelencia Middle School have been listed as two of 2025’s “California Schools to Watch.”
To earn this status, schools must complete an application then undergo a site visit from middle-grades education experts. Honorees are then selected for their academic prowess and the resources provided to teachers.
“Congratulations to Silas Bartsch School and Navelencia Middle School on this well-deserved recognition,” said John Campbell, Superintendent of Kings Canyon Unified School District, in a press release. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, and administrators who strive daily to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.”
This year marks another in the developing legacy of Kings County schools on the list. In 2020 Grant Middle School represented the county, and in 2023 KCUSD made a name for itself with Riverview School, T.L. Reed School and Grant Middle School for a second time.
Schools must redesignate every three years, showcasing how they are continuing to benefit students and how they’ve dealt with rising challenges.
Representatives from each school will be honored at the California Schools to Watch Conference on March 7.
