Sanger teen arrested in homicide case

As county law enforcement apprehends a 14-year-old student with gang affiliations in connection with a shooting, they urge the community to come forward with any relevant information

SANGER – In a recent development, law enforcement officials have arrested a teenage boy from Sanger in connection with a homicide case, as they seek assistance from the public for additional information.

Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 14-year-old boy for the murder of Ruben Ramirez, 55, of Parlier. The suspect is a student at Sanger West High School who has ties to a criminal street gang.

Around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers took a call regarding a victim of a shooting. Deputies responded to the intersection of Bethel and Jefferson in Del Rey. There they located a vehicle and found Ruben Ramirez inside suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and determined Ramirez was shot minutes earlier in the town of Del Rey. His friend tried driving him to safety and pulled over at Bethel and Jefferson after noticing the severity of his wound and that he needed immediate medical attention.
