Four-year old boy passes away in hospital after falling into a pond on Yokuts Valley property

REEDLEY – A young child has tragically passed away at the Adventist Health Hospital in Reedley after drowning in a pond in Yokuts Valley.

The incident was announced by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office in a press release on April 2.

The tragedy occurred on April 1. Four-year-old Ronald Walker was with his family on private property located in the 30000 block of George Smith Road and Kings Canyon. Family members later told deputies the boy was last seen about 10 minutes prior to being found in the pond. Ronald was unresponsive when he was pulled from the water.

Dispatchers received a 911 call from the family at around 11:45 a.m. The family was performing CPR when deputies arrived. The family then decided to transport Ronald to the hospital. EMS told the family to meet them at the intersection of Highway 180 and Piedra Road. 

EMS continued CPR as they drove to Adventist Health Hospital in Reedley. However, Ronald was later pronounced deceased.
