SANGER – The popular fast-casual food chain Chipotle Mexican Grill is expanding its presence in the Central Valley with the opening of a new restaurant in Sanger.

The city’s first Chipotle opened on April 29 in a new commercial development located near the Sanger Walmart along Jensen Avenue. Along with its well-known menu, the location will feature the chain’s “Chipotlane,” a drive-thru window where customers can pick up their online orders with ease.

“We are always looking for communities where we can serve responsibly sourced, classically-cooked, real food and establish new local partnerships, and the Sanger area is a great fit,” a Chipotle representative said.

Along with popular burritos, burrito bowls, salads and more, customers at the Sanger location will also get to try the chain’s Chicken al Pastor, a limited edition menu item. The chicken has been so popular in the past that one person on X, formerly known as Twitter, told Chipotle that they would get “Chicken al Pastor” tattooed on their forehead if the restaurant brought it back.

The chain is excited to offer the Chipotlane at this location as well, which provides more options for the larger Fresno community to “experience Chiptole in the way that is most convenient for them,” a representative said.

The Sanger location is still hiring, and each location has approximately 30 positions that get filled. A Chipotle representative said that some benefits that come with Chipotle employment include access to mental health care for employees and families, a debt-free college degree program, an English as a second language program and a bonus for crew members that provides the opportunity to earn an extra month’s worth of pay each year.

Another benefit available for all community members, not just employees, is that local organizations can host fundraisers through the restaurant for established causes. In-restaurant and digital options are available for fundraising efforts, and 25% of sales made during a fundraiser will go toward the cause. To set up a fundraiser, organizations can visit the philanthropy section of the Chipotle website.

The Sanger Chipotle is open from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day and is located at 2880 Jensen Avenue. It is one of more than 475 locations in California — the most in any state — and one of more than 3,400 restaurants in the United States, Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. The chain owns and operates all of its restaurants across North America and Europe.
