PARLIER – A man discovered lying face down in the yard of a house in Parlier was the victim of a homicide.
Silvino Serrano, 63, who lived on the property, was discovered by another resident early in the morning on Sept. 20, 2024. The house is located along South Zediker Avenue, south of Adams Avenue.
FSO deputies and emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to the house. Homicide detectives, the Crime Scene Unit and a deputy coroner also responded to the scene. Serrano’s injuries were determined to be consistent with a homicide.
Botti told YourCentralValley that Serrano, who was a father and farmworker, was an innocent victim.
“He was a farm worker. He was scheduled to go to work in the morning. Of course, he never showed up. He’s a father, he’s a husband, he’s a total innocent victim in this situation,” Botti said.
He added, “Mr. Serrano is a very punctual person. He was actually supposed to go pick up one of his coworkers, and when he didn’t show up, that person said ‘This doesn’t seem like him. I’m going to do a little bit more digging and find out.’ And it was that call that pointed us to the direction of his home, and somebody there who ultimately found him out in the yard.”
Serrano’s body was discovered around 6:30 a.m. Botti said the individuals who notified authorities were familiar with Serrano. Botti said at this time it is still too early to determine the cause of death.
