SANGER – The city of Sanger honored those who have served in the U.S. military with the 13th annual Sanger Veterans Day Parade presented by the Sanger Chamber of Commerce.
The parade, which moved through downtown Sanger and centered its festivities on 7th Street on Nov. 2, saw numerous entries from veterans groups, high school and middle school marching bands and local politicians. Local veterans received a strong show of support from the community as well, with a few hundred residents lining up to partake in the celebration and reflect on the service of veterans ahead of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
Multiple student groups participated as well, with the Sanger High School Apache Marching Band performing the National Anthem and “Stars and Stripes Forever” during the opening ceremonies ahead of the parade kick off. Cadets from the Sanger High School Military and Public Service Academy presented the colors and carried the American flag through the parade.
The Sanger High School marching band took home the prize of best band, the Tehran Shrine Clowns and Friends received the best community entry award, Sanger Academy Charter School Cheer received the best school entry award and the Indigenous Warriors Flag Group won for best veteran entry.
