Fresno County offers naming rights for new libraries

FRESNO – Fresno County is calling upon willing sponsors to support local libraries and leave a legacy.

On Jan. 28, the Fresno County Board Supervisors approved a new process of informal bidding for naming rights of certain county buildings in exchange for a fee to the county. The two buildings currently up for grabs are the soon-to-be-built Clovis and Reedley libraries

This new process will be solidified under a Naming Rights Agreement, allowing the highest bidder to leave their mark on the community. This is the first time the county has offered this type of sponsorship, and winners can name buildings after themselves, their business, an organization or anyone they want to honor. 

The naming right will last the duration of the Naming Right Agreement, which will also provide terms and conditions of fee payments and sponsorship requirements.

This call for sponsorship is being made in hopes of making the most of Measure B tax dollars for library facilities and operations. Funds raised will be used to help maintain current services and ensure access to community resources. 

According to the Fresno County website, the Clovis Library will be the largest branch in the county’s library system, spanning over 26,000 square feet. The library will feature meticulously designed outdoor spaces, including a covered patio along the Clovis Trail. 

The new Reedley Library will span 13,994 square feet, more than doubling the current building. The building will blend modern tastes with Reedley heritage, making use of neutral, earthy tones. The building will feature an engaging children’s area, in addition to a multi-use community room for public meetings, workshops and civic engagement.
