BATON ROUGE, LA – Victoria Villanueva, of Sanger, has showcased more of the Valley’s academic might after being elected into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP), the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society at Fresno State.
Villanueva has earned her spot as one of approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni initiated each year. Membership is by invitation only, and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.
Only 10% of seniors and 7% of juniors are eligible for membership, as well as graduate students in the top 10% of candidates for graduate degrees. Faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction may also qualify.
PKP was founded in 1987 and led by Marcus L. Urann. The goal was to create an honor society that recognized academic achievement across all disciplines. The society now has chapters on more than 300 campuses across the country.
