DINUBA – Utility bills in Dinuba have a new way to pay, and customers who prefer to pay online must re-register for the new system.
On June 1, the city of Dinuba introduced a new online portal to view, schedule and pay utility bills. Those who were previously enrolled in auto-pay must register once again under the new system.
“I think it’s going to be a little bit of a process for us to get everybody on the new platform,” said Karina Solis, Administrative Services Director for Dinuba. “It’s simple, but they have to go and re-register, so that may cause some people to kind of take their time with it.”
The city recommends that any residents who have recently had their water shut off pay their balance in person and not online to ensure that water is restored to the home.
Once registered, residents can now schedule their payments for any day in the month, as opposed to the predetermined dates under the old system. The new portal also accepts payment in the form of electronic checks, whereas the old one only accepted credit and debit cards. As well, under this new interface, residents who usually prefer to pay in person or through mail will still be able to do so.
Upon completing the registration, residents must allow up to a 30-day processing period. Solis urges residents to make sure they type names and account numbers exactly as they appear on the bill, down to examples such as “and” versus “&.”
Solis also reminds the public that this process requires a whole new registration, and will not use credentials from the previous portal. Those who attempted to register within the first few days of the portal’s launch may have experienced issues re-enrolling in auto-pay, but this feature has since been made available to all.
Solis emphasized that the city of Dinuba does not apply additional processing fees, so residents should not expect to see that when they pay through the city’s website.
Although no concrete plans are officially in motion at this time, Solis noted that once residents have gotten fully familiar with the new portal, other services may be put onto the payment portal for convenience.
