KINGSBURG – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in an assault turned homicide that took place in Kingsburg last week.
Luis Rodriguez, 38, of Kingsburg was arrested on July 22, and booked into Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder. His bail is set at $1 million.
On July 18, at around 10:30 p.m., Kingsburg police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of 7th Avenue and Nevada Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man suffering from clear signs of trauma. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation, and identified Rodriguez as a suspect after exploring all leads. Detectives located him in Selma and took him into custody, but the investigation remains ongoing.
