ORANGE COVE – A beloved Halloween tradition has risen from the dead in Orange Cove.
On Halloween night, the Orange Cove Fire District invites the community to a night of scares at the district’s free haunted house, beginning at 5 p.m. Kids of all ages can brave a walkthrough of the fire station’s inflatable haunted house attraction and nab themselves some free candy.
“It’s something to have safe trick-or-treating for the community, and giving something to do on Halloween night here in town,” said Battalion Chief Edward Hernandez.
The haunted house has been a tradition at the fire district for six years now, with the exception of last year to avoid competition with the city’s event. However, after feedback from the community calling for its return, it was made clear that it was time to bring it back.
Hernandez explained that department staff will be lurking inside the inflatable attraction, ready to spook unfortunate souls who pass by. The experience will be tailored for each child or group who enters, with the intensity of scares matching the age level.
Hernandez encourages those who wish to support to donate candy, which can be dropped off at the fire station.
Between this haunted house and the city’s trunk-or-treat event at JO Eaton Park, the trick-or-treaters of Orange Cove will have no shortage of things to do this Halloween.
