SANGER – Some Sanger residents may notice a return of the sewage odor that previously plagued the city as repairs on the wastewater treatment plant’s thickener clarifier get underway.
The city of Sanger issued a public notice on Oct. 24 to alert residents that there will be a temporary odor issue due to ongoing maintenance to address much-needed work on the plant. Sanger City Manager Nathan Olson previously told the Mid Valley Times that this would be a possibility while the city works through delayed maintenance.
As part of the thickener/clarifier repairs, sewage material had to be diverted to Sanger’s wastewater sludge draining beds that are located near the treatment plant. This process has resulted in a “noticeable sewage odor” in certain areas of the city, the public notice said.
“We understand this may cause discomfort and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” the city said. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
