SANGER – Those looking to grab a bite can try a new local business that’s just fired up its grills.
On Feb. 6, local leaders and community members gathered at 630 Academy Ave. for the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Tasty Bunz, a fast food joint cooking up burgers, shakes and much more. Having recently moved to the area himself, owner Abdo Alghazali is excited to bring a new food option to the community.
“We’re glad we finally got to get these doors open for everybody, and everybody gets to try the food and the quality,” Alghazali said. “We want to make sure every burger is made with love.”
During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Mayor Frank Gonzalez presented the business with a certificate of recognition, and a framed picture of the Nation’s Christmas Tree. A representative from Fresno County Supervisor Nathan Magsig’s office also attended, and presented another certificate of recognition.
Throughout the ceremony, passing cars excitedly honked to show their support and welcome the new business.
After the ceremonial matters, guests quickly filtered into the restaurant for an early brunch of sizzling fast food. Staff quickly worked on orders of sandwiches, wings, burgers and even ice cream. Cars quickly began to arrive at the drive through as well, marking a successful start to the first day of business.
This is now Tasty Bunz’s second location, with the other being in Porterville. Alghazali expressed gratitude for the community’s support leading up to the big day, and for showing up once the doors officially opened.
“It’s literally the best feeling, and I’m just super glad,” Alghazali said. “It really warms me up.”
As a way to give back, customers were given free ice cream cones throughout the day with every purchase.
