SANGER – Sanger’s newest eatery is bringing culturally-inspired delight with some modern mainstream twists.
On May 27, community members excitedly gathered at 614 Academy Ave. for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Bubble Bee’s new Sanger location. As the business’ third brick and mortar location, residents now have a new spot to grab sweet treats or some savory goodness.
Co-owner Kamal Kaur said that residents have already been showing avid support, and she expressed feelings of excitement to bring some new food options to the city.
“Sanger has really opened a lot of doors for us, and the people are coming in,” said Kaur in an interview.
In celebration of the grand opening, attendees who showed up between 12-2 p.m. could enjoy a free Korean dog, with options like classic, potato and spicy dogs. Those looking for something different could try any of Bubble Bee’s other offerings, which include topped fries, acai bowls, chia pudding and more.
Drink options include teas, lemonades and slushies, with most having the option for boba or other toppings. According to Smit Shah, co-owner of Bubble Bee, the acai bowls have proven especially popular in Sanger since the soft opening on May 13.
Kaur and Shah have been business associates for the better part of a decade, but they started their Bubble Bee endeavor around four years ago as a mobile vendor in Fresno. The business quickly found enough success to open the physical location in Fresno, and later Clovis.
In addition to now three stores, Bubble Bee also has a food trailer and three food trucks, which Kaur said have gone as far north as UC Davis and are the true “backbone” of the business.
Reflecting on the strong support that’s already been seen for this new location, Kaur expressed her gratitude to the community, and said she would encourage other businesses to consider opening up shop in Sanger.
“I feel that it’s a good community, it’s just that they’re also waiting for different options that they have not been having,” Kaur said. “It’s growing, the people are nice, and this is our third store, so when I compare them, right now I feel that Sanger is on top.”
Looking to the future, Kaur and Shah hope to continue Bubble Bee’s growth, and potentially begin franchising new locations.
