FRESNO – The Big Fresno Fair Board of Directors announced the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Christina Estrada following a distinguished 36-year career, including the past three years serving as CEO.
Estrada’s retirement became effective July 13. According to the announcement, Board President Gary Singh Chahil and Vice President Frank Flores will serve as interim co-CEOs, providing leadership continuity while the board begins the search for the organization’s next leader.
“Christina’s impact on The Big Fresno Fair spans more than three decades of dedicated service to our organization and community,” said Singh Chahil in a statement “From her early years with the fair to her time serving as CEO, Christina has brought tremendous knowledge, passion and commitment to every role she has held.”
Estrada began her fair career in 1990, spending more than three decades in various leadership roles and working alongside seven CEOs and numerous board of directors, all appointed by California governors. Her deep knowledge of Fair operations, creativity, steady leadership and commitment to both the team and the community have distinguished her career.
Estrada was appointed interim CEO in 2023 before being named permanent CEO by the fair’s board of directors in November 2024.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we sincerely thank Christina for her leadership and the lasting contributions she has made to The Big Fresno Fair,” Singh Chahil said.
Throughout her career, Estrada has played a key role in strengthening community engagement. This included serving as the fair’s official Spanish-language spokesperson for more than 20 years, helping strengthen the fair’s connection with diverse communities throughout Fresno County.
“Christina’s leadership, heart and dedication to this Fair have been instrumental in its continued success,” said Flores in a statement. “Her deep understanding of fair operations and commitment to our community has helped position the organization for continued success.
“We are grateful for her leadership and the strong foundation she leaves behind as we continue moving The Big Fresno Fair forward.”
Planning for the 2026 Big Fresno Fair is well underway, with another exciting lineup of entertainment and attractions planned for guests this October. The fair will continue its tradition of bringing the community together for 12 nights of concerts and grandstand attractions, including a two-day Pro Rodeo, Demolition Derby, Monster Trucks, grounds entertainment, Fair food, exhibits and more.
