REEDLEY – Voters of Reedley and its surrounding areas have a chance to hear from some election candidates at an upcoming forum.

The Greater Reedley Chamber of Commerce and Reedley College are inviting residents to join them for the Central Valley Candidates Forum on Monday, Oct. 5. Invitations have been sent to candidates running in county, state and federal races, some of which plan to attend the forum. The Fresno County Superintendent of Schools race will be among the races highlighted.

“We hope you’ll join us for this nonpartisan community event and share the invitation with others who may be interested,” said the announcement.

The forum will be held at Reedley College in the McClarty Center for Fine & Performing Arts, located at 995 N. Reed Avenue. The event is free and open to the public, and doors open at 5:30 p.m. while the forum itself begins at 6 p.m.

Reggie Ellis, publisher and president of the Mid Valley Times newspaper, will moderate the forum, giving voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates ahead of the November general election.

High school civics students and college political science students are especially encouraged to stop in and hear more from their candidates in this year’s election. A forum is a place, meeting or online platform where people can publicly discuss ideas, share opinions and exchange information on various topics.

“Bring a friend, hear from the candidates and take part in the conversation about our community’s future,” said the Reedley Chamber in a social media post.

Election day is approaching on Tuesday, Nov. 3. According to the website of the California Secretary of State, Shirley Weber, the state’s counties will start mailing out ballots by no later than Oct. 5, the same day that secure ballot drop-off locations will open.

Learn more about where to drop off your ballot on fresnocountyca.gov under the elections page, where “Vote Centers and Drop Boxes Lookup” can be found under the “Voting Options” tab.
