VISALIA –  A Visalia resident has been confronted with a charge for possessing child pornography, bringing into focus his earlier felony convictions and registered sex offender status.

On Nov. 20, Tulare County District Attorney prosecutors took legal action against Fidel Josue Madrigal, 33, following an investigation conducted by the Visalia Police Department concerning crimes involving children.

Madrigal now faces a single charge of possessing child pornography; this charge carries special allegations due to his prior felony convictions. Additionally, Madrigal is currently a registered sex offender, stemming from a 2015 conviction for displaying or distributing pornography to a minor, along with a misdemeanor charge of annoying or molesting a child.

During his arraignment, Madrigal entered a plea of not guilty and is currently in custody with bail set at $100,000. A bail hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 28, in the Tulare County Superior Court.

This investigation is ongoing, and anyone who may possess additional information is strongly encouraged to reach out to the Visalia Police Department at 559-734-8116.
