DINUBA – A 64-year-old woman from Dinuba has passed away following a head-on car collision on Highway 201.

On July 30 at approximately 7:52 a.m., the Fresno Communications Center received a call of a two vehicle crash on Highway 201, west of Road 74, in the unincorporated area of Tulare County. Officers from the California Highway Patrol Visalia Area Office were dispatched to the scene to investigate.

The preliminary investigation indicates a solo female driver of a 2013 Toyota Corolla from Dinuba was driving eastbound on Highway 201, west of Road 74. The driver of a 2019 Kia Sorento was going westbound on Highway 201 at an unknown speed.

For a reason yet to be determined, the two involved vehicles crashed head-on on Highway 201. The Toyota Corolla came to rest on the northern shoulder of Highway 201. The solo female occupant of the Toyota succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The Kia Sorento came to a rest in the westbound lane of Highway 201. Concerned citizens assisted the driver of the Kia out of the vehicle and the driver of the Kia was later transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center via ground ambulance. Both drivers of the involved vehicles appeared to be wearing their seatbelt at the time the crash occurred.

It is unknown at this time if drugs were a factor in this crash.

The California Highway Patrol wants to remind those who get behind the wheel of a vehicle to drive at a safe speed, remove all distractions and always wear a seatbelt.

Members of the community who may have witnessed the crash or who have information regarding this crash are encouraged to contact the California Highway Patrol Visalia Area Office during normal business hours at 559-734-6767.
