SANGER – A mini crime wave in Sanger came to an end on Nov. 2 when police arrested an adult male and his son in connection with multiple reports of vandalism committed in the city.
According to a Nov. 4 Sanger Police Department press release, officers responded to multiple reports of broken windows at several locations. Chipotle, Jack in the Box, Anytime Fitness, Burger King and a residential unit at Country Creek Apartments all reported damage at their locations.
The department recovered 3/8” steel slingshot ammunition at two of the locations. Police collected surveillance footage from the city’s camera system and identified a maroon 2020 Ram pickup as possibly being involved in the crimes.
Officers identified the registered owner of the pickup as Thomas Ramirez, 46, of Sanger. When officers contacted Ramirez at his residence, they discovered a box of the same steel ammunition. They also found a slingshot in the truck. They arrested Ramirez and his 17-year-old juvenile son at their residence.
Ramirez and his son were booked into the Fresno County Jail and the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center on felony charges related to vandalism, conspiracy to commit a crime and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Damages from the crime spree are estimated to be in excess of $5,000. The Fresno County District Attorney will be handling the prosecution.
