FRESNO COUNTY – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office recovered a man’s body from a ponding basin in an unincorporated area of the county west of Sanger.

FSO said that the incident occurred at 2 a.m. on June 1 along the 2600 block of South Temperance Ave., between North Avenue and Jensen Avenue. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been identified as Mastan Singh, 38, of Fresno. Although the sheriff’s office does not have a cause of death, they do not suspect foul play was involved and said they learned Singh was not a good swimmer.

According to the sheriff’s office, three individuals had gathered near a ponding basin in the area and were consuming alcohol. Two of the individuals left and Singh was left by himself at the location. When Singh did not return home, his family became worried and alerted the sheriff’s office.
