CLOVIS – A woman, who was under the age of 18 at the time of the crime, has been sentenced for her involvement in the murder of a Clovis teenager.

On Sept. 2, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office released a statement that a former minor, a female, involved in the 2025 murder of Caleb Quick, 18, has been sentenced to seven years in the Secure Youth Treatment Facility. During the Sept. 2 disposition hearing, chief deputy district attorney Kendall T. Reynolds argued that the woman was unsuitable for any less restrictive disposition, based on the severity of the offense and the woman’s substantial role throughout the homicide.

It was recommended that the woman be committed to the SYTF and that the court impose the maximum baseline term of seven years, determining the recommendation to be “reasonable and necessary given the totality of the record.” The court imposed the maximum seven-year commitment.

Because the woman was under the age of 18 at the time of the offense, the case proceeded in juvenile court. The DA’s office sought to have the case transferred to adult criminal court, but the request was denied by Judge Kimberly Gaab, on May 15.

As a result, the case remained in juvenile court, which uses terminology and procedures that differ from adult criminal court. Unlike adult criminal court, there is no jury in a juvenile delinquency adjudication. Instead, the judge hears the evidence and determines whether the allegations have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The juvenile court trial in this case was held from July 31 through Aug. 17, 2026, before Judge Brian Alvarez in Department 50. Alvarez found the petition true as alleged on Aug. 17, including the allegation of first-degree murder of Caleb Quick.

The case against the alleged shooter remains pending, and on Dec. 1, the juvenile court will hold a transfer hearing to determine whether the alleged shooter’s case should be transferred to adult criminal court. Because that proceeding remains pending, the DA’s office said in its statement that it will not comment further on the allegations or evidence against the alleged shooter.

The case was prosecuted by chief deputy district attorney Kendall T. Reynolds and investigated by senior DA investigator Jennifer Machado. The Clovis Police Department was the investigating agency.
