REEDLEY – Local officers arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of starting a brush fire that burned along Kings River near Manning Bridge on Aug. 7.

The Reedley Police Department opened an investigation into the fire after officers suspected it was intentionally set. After conducting follow-up interviews and reviewing video footage, investigators identified Andres Ledesman as a suspect in connection with the fire, according to a statement.

Ledesman is an unhoused individual who frequents the Reedley area, and was booked into Fresno County jail on one count of arson.

According to the Reedley police department, there have been a series of brush fires burning along the river bottom area of Reedley in the past few weeks, adjacent to Kings River. While police continue to investigate those fires — also believed to be arson — officers have not made any connection between them and Ledesman as of press time.
