Manuela Bustamante

Manuela Bustamante of Reedley, died on Aug. 4, 2023. Mrs. Bustamante was a homemaker. Private services will be held at a later date. Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Brian Edward Karle

Brian Edward Karle of Sanger, died on Aug. 10, 2023. He was 47 years old. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Monday, Aug. 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Sanger Cemetery District. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Dean Louis

Dean Louis of Reedley, died on Aug. 10, 2023. Mr. Louis was a plumber. Celebration of life will be held at a later date. He is survived by his spouse, Lois Mae Parento, one son, two daughters and four grandchildren. Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. .

Charlene Leslie Shafer

Charlene Leslie Shafer of Visalia, died on Aug. 4, 2023. She was 78 years old. A funeral Mass will be on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sanger. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Joseph Shafer

Walter Joseph Shafer of Sanger, died on July 31, 2023. He was 55 years old. A funeral Mass will be on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sanger. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marilynn Yvonne Swinger

Marilynn Yvonne Swinger, 90, of West Hollywood, Calif., peacefully passed away on July 28, 2023, at Reedley, Calif. She was born on Oct. 4, 1932, in West Hollywood, Calif., to the late Joseph and Ruth Adams. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Swinger and her brother, Robert Adams.  Marilynn was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Known affectionately as “Mom,” Marilynn relocated to Orange Cove in 1957, where she devoted herself to creating a loving and nurturing home for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love survived by her beloved daughter Lynn Helin and husband Larry, her son Keith Swinger and wife Marcia, and her daughter Virginia Swinger. Marilynn found immeasurable joy in her grandchildren, Andrew Heitzenrader and wife Michelle, Paige Holt, and her great-grandchildren, Riley Heitzenrader and Maddix Anderson. Numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews also mourn her loss.

Marilynn valued education and proudly graduated from Covina High School. She worked diligently over the years, starting her career at General Telephone in Pomona, Calif., as an operator, before advancing to the position of supervisor at the Reedley office. Later, she served with unwavering dedication as the office manager for the campus police and maintenance department at Reedley College for over four decades.

Marilynn’s faith remained an integral part of her life, finding solace and inspiration at Orange Cove Presbyterian Church where she served on Session and the Presbyterian Women’s Association as president and secretary. Marilynn celebrated life through her participation in various organizations, including the Orange Cove Women’s Club since 1960, the Orange Cove Chamber of Commerce, where she was named Women of the Year, and where she served as secretary for many years, the Reedley Kiwanis Club, where she served as president and continuously served as secretary, and the Business and Professional Women of Reedley. In her spare time, she indulged in hobbies that brought her immense pleasure, including bowling, reading, knitting exquisite Christmas stockings and baby bonnets.

Family and friends were invited to join together in a celebration of Marilynn Yvonne Swinger’s life at Orange Cove Presbyterian Church on Aug. 17, 2023 at 11 a.m. Her life will be honored, memories cherished, and the impact she made on those around her will be acknowledged. 

Marilynn’s enduring love for her family, unwavering dedication to her community, and compassionate nature will be cherished always. May she find eternal peace and rest in the embrace of her heavenly abode.

Concepcion Torres

Concepcion Torres of Sanger, died on Aug. 7, 2023. She was 85 years old. Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 21, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home. A chapel service will be on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dolores Ann Walters

Dolores Ann Walters of Reedley, died on Aug. 8, 2023. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Walters was a food service director. Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Full Gospel Tabernacle in Reedley with interment at Reedley Cemetery District. Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
