Karen Elaine Anderson

Karen Elaine Anderson of Sanger, died on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. She was 64 years old. Mrs. Anderson was a farmer. A memorial funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Reedley at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe L. Brasil

Joe L. Brasil of Sanger, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024. He was 58 years old. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 from 2 to 5 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 4 p.m. at Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Stephen Gebhart

John Stephen Gebhart of Sanger, died on Jan. 20, 2024. He was 76 years old. Mr. Gebhart was a property manager. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Sanger Cemetery. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rebecca Rumalda Marcial

Rebecca Rumalda Marcial of Cutler, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024. She was 87 years old. Mrs. Marcial was a fruit packer. Visitations will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cutler. Burial will be at Smith Mountain Cemetery. Dignity Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Linda Kay McFarlin

Linda Kay McFarlin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Feb. 11, 2024, in Hanford, California. She was born on Feb. 5, 1949, in Reedley, California, to Earl Walker Curry and Mary Pauline Jernigan. She was preceded in death by her siblings Carolyn, Wanda, and Marshall Thomas. 

Linda Kay McFarlin

Graduating from Reedley High School in 1967 she pursued various endeavors, including working as a telephone operator and eventually becoming a successful ranch owner and manager with Husband Joe McFarlin who were married in Reno, Nevada. They shared a remarkable journey together, celebrating 54 years of marriage.

In her free time, Linda enjoyed fishing, hunting and Casinos.

Survived by her loving husband, Joe, her children, Jordan and Joni with grandchild, Morrison. She is also survived by nieces Alicia (Larry) and Celeste (Steve), who held a special place in her heart.

A private funeral service will be held to honor Linda’s life, as she requested. Her family and closest fiends will gather to share memories, celebrate her remarkable journey, and find solace in being together during this difficult time.

Linda Kay McFarlin will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, her kind and gentle spirit, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her legacy of love lives on in the hearts of those she loved and cared for.

Cristobel Ortiz Melgoza

Cristobel Ortiz Melgoza of Parlier, died on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024. He was 78 years old. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024 at Wallin’s Parlier Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m., rosary at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows in Parlier. Wallin’s Parlier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley Mercer

Stanley Mercer of Kerman, died on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024. He was 84 years old. Mr. Mercer was owner/operator. He is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Mercer. He is survived by his three children, six grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and one brother. A graveside service was held on Feb. 20, 2024 at the Kingsburg Cemetery. Salser and Dillard Creighton Funeral Home in Kingsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Marciel Jeannette (Reimer) Regier

Marciel Jeannette (Reimer) Regier passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024 at Palm Village Retirement Community in Reedley, California at the age of 89.

Marciel Jeannette (Reimer) Regier

Marciel had a home birth on March 12, 1934 to Cornelius and Anna Reimer in Dallas, Oregon. She graduated from Salem Christian Academy in Salem, Oregon.

As a child, Marciel loved accompanying her father, a lay preacher, on Sunday mornings to teach Sunday School in the hop yards to migrant children. She attended and was baptized in the Dallas, Oregon Mennonite Brethren Church. After graduating from Salem Academy Marciel attended Pacific Bible Institute in Fresno, California, where she met Marvin Regier, the love of her life. Marvin and Marciel were married on August 15, 1952 at the Dallas Mennonite Brethren Church.

Immediately after the wedding, mom and dad moved to Los Angeles where Dad worked at Los Angeles General Hospital and mom worked at Singer Sewing Machine. When dad completed his service, they moved to Dallas, Oregon where Michael and Cindy were born. Mom worked summers at the cannery and picking hops.

In 1961 Marvin and Marciel moved to Reedley where Monte was born. Mom and Dad attended the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. Mom stayed active in the church by teaching Sunday School and Pioneer Girls and later singing in the choir.

Mom had a love of math and numbers and prior to her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for Ferdinand Yale, Pioneer Equipment, Gus Janzen, and Wes Isaac Construction. Mom and Dad loved to travel with their good friends and went on many cruises and visited many countries. 

Marciel and Marvin celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marciel is survived by her husband, Marvin Regier, her brother Tom Reimer of Edmonds, Washington and her three children: Michael Regier (and wife Paula), Cindy Schuil (and husband Marc) and Monte Regier (and wife Christie). She has five grandchildren: Jeff Schuil (Lindsay), Crystal Bevis (Jared), Katie Verhoeven (Jonathan), Brooke and Austin Regier. Marciel was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Levi, Jane and Jude Schuil; Owen, Nora and Miles Bevis; and Savannah, Emily, Gwen and Marc Verhoeven.

Always positive and caring, Marciel loved serving her family and was always there for a school program or sports event. Marciel hosted all of our family gatherings at her home until she was no longer able. Marciel was a voracious reader and also loved to garden.

Services will be held at the Chapel at Palm Village Retirement Community, 703 W. Herbert Avenue, Reedley, California on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. A reception will follow.

Leslie Ann Stover

Leslie Ann Stover of Fresno, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024. She was 65 years old. Graveside services were held on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024. Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Taye Umeda

Taye Umeda of Alhambra, died on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024. Mrs. Umeda was born in Kingsburg, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Masanori Umeda. She is survived by her five children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Fukui Mortuary in Los Angeles is charge of arrangements.
