Kim Chhuon Ky

It is with profound sadness that we, the Ky family, announce the departure of our beloved matriarch, Kim Chhuon Ky, who passed away on March 11, 2024, at Fresno Community Hospital. A tragic car accident led to severe injuries from which she bravely fought, but ultimately could not recover. Her passing has left an immeasurable void in our hearts and lives.

Kim Chhuon Ky
1942–2024

Kim Chhuon Ky was born on May 5, 1942, in the tranquil village of Chomnaon Rongko, Srok Mongkolborey, Battambang Province, Cambodia. As the cherished eldest daughter of Ung Ai Bun and Tan Chang, she was a beacon of love and strength, growing up alongside her siblings – Ung Kim Hour, Ung Kim Uong, Ung Kim Niang, and Ung Kim Nay. Her life flourished in love and partnership upon marrying Chong Chiv Ky in 1965. This blessed union saw the birth of six children, the growth of sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and the nurturing of numerous nieces and nephews, weaving a tapestry of love that defines her legacy.

Kim’s journey from her early days in Battambang Province to becoming a successful businesswoman, despite the obstacle of illiteracy, is a testament to her resilience, compassion, and dedication. She emerged as a pillar of our family and community, known for her kindness, generosity, and leadership. Kim’s life was a source of inspiration to many, a legacy of hope, wisdom, and selflessness that will continue to inspire.
