Maria M. Alanis

Maria M. Alanis, of Parlier, died on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. She was 79 years old. Mrs. Alanis was a laborer. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Wallin’s Parlier Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at the Parlier Cemetery. Wallin’s Parlier Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Miguel Reyes Alegria 

Miguel Reyes Alegria, of Orange Cove, died on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. He was 63 years old. Mr. Alegria was a farm worker. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 5  to 7 p.m. and a rosary at 6 p.m. at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Home. Mr. Alegria is survived by his son and his daughter. Dopkins Reedley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  

Marcelino Sandoval Alvarado

Marcelino Sandoval Alvarado, of Parlier, died on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. He was 84 years old. Mr. Alvarado was a laborer. A funeral was held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Sanger. Wallin’s Parlier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alicia Vizcarra Cachu

Alicia Vizcarra Cachu, of Dinuba, died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Cachu was a homemaker. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Dopkins Dinuba Funeral Chapel, followed by a graveside service at the Smith Mountain Cemetery. She is survived by her two daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dopkins Dinuba Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. 

Damartha Angela Cotner

Damartha Angela Cotner was born to Lawrence John Danisi and Domenica Adrienne Minerva Danisi in Fresno, Calif., on Dec. 24, 1953. Dee graduated from Roosevelt High school in 1972. After attending Fresno City College, she went to work for Liberty Mutual in Fresno. At Liberty Mutual, she met her future husband, William Cotner, son of Roy Cotner and Eva Garbarino Cotner. After a year of courtship, Damartha and William were married on October 11, 1975, at St. John’s Cathedral in Fresno.

In 1978, Dee gave birth to their son Alex. A few years later, she went to cosmetology school and worked as a cosmetologist for 35 years. She owned her own shop at home, ‘Country Curls Beauty Salon’, where she served many customers, and developed friendships over the years.  

In January 2008, Dee and Bill welcomed their daughter-in-law, Ruth Bevans, into the family. They eventually welcomed two granddaughters, Abigail in 2011 and Lillianna in 2016. Dee’s granddaughters were the light of her life, spending every moment she could babysitting, teaching them how to cook and crochet, as well as styling their hair. 

In 2004, Dee was diagnosed with breast cancer. This would be a battle that she would wage for the next 20 years. She passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 9, 2025, with her husband by her side, at the age of 71. Dee was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lawrence and Domenica (Mae) Danisi, as well as her in-laws Roy and Eva Cotner. She is survived by her husband Bill, son Alex, daughter-in-law Ruth, granddaughters Abigail and Lillianna, sisters Joanne (John) Thibodeaux and Irana (Glenn) Horomian, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church, in Reedley, Calif., on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. 

Mabel Marie Landon-McCraw
1936–2025
Mabel Marie Landon-McCraw

Mabel Marie Landon-McCraw was born on Jan. 13, 1936, in Hominy Osage, Okla. She passed Jan. 12, 2025, at the age of 88 in Jacksonville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred McCraw, her son Alan McCraw, and her daughter-in-law Theresa McCraw. Mable is survived by six children,16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed. A remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton, Calif. 

Gabriel Pena

Gabriel Pena, of Orosi, died on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025. He was 90 years old. Mr. Pena was the owner of Pena’s Disposal. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, at 9 a.m., with a rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Dinuba. He is survived by his son, his daughter, one brother, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Sterling & Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  

Clementina Pruneda 

Clementina Pruneda, of Sultana, died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025. She was 65 years old. She is survived by her husband, Guillermo Garcia, her siblings and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will take place on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Dopkins Dinuba Funeral Chapel with a funeral service to follow. Interment will be at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba. Dopkins Dinuba Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jose Francisco Sanchez

Jose Francisco Sanchez, of Caruthers, died on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. He was 24 years old. Mr. Sanchez was a personal trainer. A funeral was held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church. Wallin’s Riverdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Melvin Swofford

Melvin Swofford, of Sanger, died on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. He was 77 years old. Mr. Swofford was a welder. Services are pending at this time. Wallins Sanger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
