Irene Virginia Aldava

It is with great love and sadness that the family of Irene Virginia Aldava, 68, of Clovis, California announces her passing. Irene was born in Reedley, California, to Rosie and Alfonso Aldava, and spent her life surrounded by family, faith, and friendship.

Irene dedicated 44 years of her career as a data technician, where she was known for her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering work ethic. Beyond her career, she was a loving daughter, sister, godmother, and friend who will be remembered for her generous heart and gentle spirit.

She is survived by her parents, Rosie and Alfonso Aldava; siblings, Alfonso Aldava Jr., Theresa Cerda, and Andy Aldava; closest friends, Sherry Lida and Dwayne Stewart, whose love and friendship brought her great joy throughout her life.

Services will be held as followed: viewing on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m.; Rosary on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at 11 a.m.; church service on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at 12 p.m.; and burial on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Betty Jane Miwako Oki

In Loving Memory of Betty Jane Miwako Oki

Betty Jane Miwako Oki, beloved mother, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2025. Born in Reedley, California Sept. 4, 1923, Betty Jane’s life was devoted to family, community, and church.

Betty Jane was among the thousands of Japanese Americans relocated to internment camps. From 1942 to 1945, she lived in Poston, Arizona, where she met and married Jack S. Oki, her devoted husband of 57 years, prior to his passing in 2000.

Betty Jane found joy in gardening, sewing, cooking, and family. She proudly owned and operated her own hair salon for many years and worked at Otani’s Department Store until retiring in 1986.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hiroshi and Hiteyo Nakashima; her brothers Yukio and S. Stephen Nakashima; her sisters Bernice Nakashima and Eleanor Toi; and her loving husband, Jack S. Oki.

Betty Jane is survived by her daughters, Gayle M. Oki, Danielle O. Magee (and husband Jason), and Lorraine M. Kuwamoto (and husband Martin).

A private service will be held at Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel.

Andrea Ovalle, of Sanger, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the age of 98. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025 at 6 p.m. at Wallin’s Sanger Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sanger. Wallin’s Fowler Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Guadalupe Contreras Sanchez, Sr.

Guadalupe Contreras Sanchez, Sr., of Reedley, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the age of 96. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025 at 9 a.m. at the Old St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with a Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held immediately after at 11 a.m. with a burial at the Reedley Cemetery.

He is survived by his two sons, one daughter, one brother, one sister, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dopkins Reedley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
