Dinuba’s top two singles players, seniors Ruby Zambrano and Jaden Godoy, accounted for half the team’s victories against Wasco. Zambrano defeated Alysse Biggs 6-0, 6-2 while Godoy topped Celeste Castro 6-1, 6-1. The pair, reigning West Yosemite League doubles champions, then prevailed in a 10-7 tiebreaker over Castro and Biggs.

Mia Orosco, the Emps’ No. 3 singles player, swept Abril Ruiz by scores of 6-1, 6-1; then teamed with Isabella Bergmann to rally past Ruiz and Fatima Soto by a 4-6, 6-1 (10-5 tiebreaker) score. Sukhdeep Kaur had Dinuba’s other win, in No. 6 singles.

One other Mid Valley Times region school, Sanger West High, advanced to the semifinals with a win on Oct. 26. The No. 7 seed Hornets knocked off No. 2 seed and East Sequoia League champion Orosi by a 5-4 score, and now will travel to Firebaugh to take on the third-seeded Eagles on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The finals are set for Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Regional individual qualifiers will compete at the Central Area meet on  Friday and Saturday, Nov 3-4, at Mt. Whitney High in Visalia. The section individual meet will take place on Nov. 10-11 at San Luis Obispo High School.
