Softball all-star game scheduled for June 19

Four regional players on County team, two Sanger High standouts part of City roster for contest at Fresno State’s Margie Wright Diamond

FRESNO – Six standout players from Mid Valley Times region schools will play their final games representing their high schools in the annual City-County All-Star Softball Game at Fresno State’s Margie Wright Diamond later this month.

The 2024 contest will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the site of annual Central Section championship games. Tickets will be available online (GoFan Washington Union page) and at the gate; priced at $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.

Orange Cove High graduates Mia Castillo and Star Elizondo, stars for consecutive section champion teams in 2022 and 2023, will play one more time on the Fresno State diamond where they captured Division IV titles. Also returning to Fresno State for the County is Reedley High’s Candince Moreno-Hairabedian, a member of the Pirates’ 2023 D-III runner up squad. Also on the team is Immanuel High graduate Allison Wood.

Two Sanger High standout graduates are playing for the City: first baseman Alyssa Martinez and infielder Jayden Herrera. Both are veteran stars for the Apaches, who won the Reedley Invitational tournament and placed second in the County Metro Athletic Conference behind Bullard.

Also represented in the City are Kingsburg High graduates Harli Furlong and Lexykay Paxton. The City includes players from Clovis, Clovis North, Clovis East and Buchanan along with five Bullard players.

Also on the County roster are Selma High players Khamara Dement and Sophia Roque. Eight players are from Central High and three others from Hanford schools in Kings County.

Reserved seating at the game will be on a first come, first serve basis. Gates at the softball facility will open at 5 p.m. the day of the game.
