REEDLEY – With the fall sports season coming to a quick end, the Reedley College women’s soccer and volleyball teams have positioned themselves for possible postseason trips.
The Lady Tigers’ soccer team finished the regular season with two consecutive losses, a 3-1 match at home against the Taft Cougars on Nov. 11, and then suffered a 1-0 loss against the Fresno City College Rams in Fresno on Nov. 14.
In the loss to the Cougars, Tigers’ forward Janette Batres finished with the only goal on a free kick late in the first half. Reedley’s starting goalie Briar Estes had four saves in the first half before being lifted for Jasmine Lupita in the second half. Lupita finished the match with four saves. Against the Rams, the Lady Tigers failed to bank any shots on goal. Fresno City’s Alyssa Fernandez scored the game’s only goal.
Despite finishing the regular season on a slide, the Lady Tigers (14-7-1) are headed back to the 3C2A NorCal State Soccer Championships. This marks the third straight appearance for Head Coach Onesta Francis’ Tigers.
Reedley (#19) makes the trek up to Hayward, California to face #14 seed Chabot in Round One action on Nov. 19. The victor advances to face #3 seed City College of San Francisco on Nov. 22.
Lady Tigers’ volleyball awaits playoff fate
After finishing the 2025 regular season with a split of their final two matches, Reedley College now waits patiently to find out their postseason fate.
The Tigers suffered a sweep to Fresno City 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-20) in a one-sided contest on Nov. 12 in Fresno. Reedley’s Emily Enriquez, Gwyn Gilbert and Olivia Gray performed well in a losing effort. Enriquez and Gray kept the action alive with 13 and 15 digs, respectively. Gilbert dished out 12 digs and 16 assists in the loss.
Reedley rebounded from a sweep on the losing end to a sweet sweep in the victory column. The Tigers’ walked away with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-13) win on Nov. 14 behind the stellar play of Kandi Walton. Walton dished out a game-high 13 kills and also contributed 6 digs.
