FRESNO COUNTY – Now that the nets have come down on another exciting volleyball season in the Tri-County-Kings Conference, the time to recognize the best of the best has already happened.
While Central Valley Christian came away with the conference title this season, Immanuel (Reedley) was the last team left standing, winning its second consecutive state title. The Eagles’ fantastic flight resulted in four players from a talented and deep roster, earning First and Second Team rankings on the TCKC All-League honors list. And a certain Eagle’s resounding play earned her the Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Senior setter and opposite hitter Tori Visser found her rightful place on the TCKC All-League First Team. Visser excelled everywhere on the court, while also providing valuable leadership for the Eagles all season. According to MaxPreps, Visser ranked second in the league in assists (869), sixth in the Central Section, 30th overall in the state. Visser also contributed 62 kills, 268 digs and 31 aces.
Visser’s teammates, seniors Lily Hughes, Addison Efird and freshman Cami Chernekoff deserve their places on the Second Team. Hughes was an imposing force in front of the net, ranking third in the Central Section with 47 total blocks. Efird teamed with Hughes to rank second in the TCKC with 49 total blocks. As for Chernekoff, she dazzled with her high-flying kills, slamming 281 kills, 304 digs and 35 total blocks.
Immanuel’s co-captain and senior hitter, Spencer Horn, put the cherry on the icing of a brilliant final season to be named the TCKC Offensive Player of the Year. All Horn did was enforce her will with 369 kills and 354 digs, according to MaxPreps. Horn also managed to record 54 aces.
The Kingsburg Vikings tied the Eagles with a total of four players earning First and Second Team honors. Junior hitters Averie Croissant and Emma Murgia swung big enough axes to share spots on the First Team. Murgia finished with 277 kills and Croissant wasn’t too far behind with 202.
Kingsburg’s Maddie Ekizian and Parker Woods occupy well-earned recognition on the Second Team. Ekizian dished out 689 assists from her setter position, according to MaxPreps. And Woods kept the ball in play with 291 digs.
Reedley had three players combined to make the First and Second Teams. Senior co-captain Aryssa Baca was voted onto the First Team while Kaylie Thiesen and Macy Freeborn share Second Team spots. Baca led a Pirates’ offensive mutiny on the court, powering 310 kills and 333 digs, according to MaxPreps.
Senior setter Thiesen definitely helped set the tone of play, registering 843 assists. Freeborn’s offense/defense combo skills resulted in 46 total blocks and 191 kills.
