The Works of George Besaw

The Reedley Historical Society invites all to come and see, “The Works of George Besaw: Reedley’s Premiere Photographer” as presented by Michael J. Semas.

George Besaw (1880–1970) was a prominent self-taught photographer based in California. Besaw was recognized for creating high-quality photos of early 20th-century California scenes that were featured as postcards. He ran a studio in Reedley and specialized in documenting Northern and Southern California locations. Some of his works include a 1908 photo taken in Visalia from top of the old county courthouse, a postcard image of a granite quarry that was east of Porterville taken in 1909, and a postcard image of Dinuba, circa 1916 which is believed to be taken from the water tower at the corner of Tulare and I streets.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Reedley Museum, from Historical Society Board Members, or at Sierra View Homes. Refreshments will be served at the event.
